A Bit About Me.
Jake Sparey
Sports Commentator
From my humble beginnings growing up pushing Hot Wheels cars around my bedroom and pretending to be Murray Walker, I’ve become a 10- year professional commentator.
My journey began as I was scrolling YouTube and found a series where the colour commentator was commentating on himself in the third person. I thought that very strange and with no prior experience, I said “I can do that!” and I was off to the races — literally.
BACKGROUND
I started with esports broadcasts in mid-2015 on the Sim Racing Title, iRacing, providing excitement and capturing the greatest moments in both the virtual and real worlds.
In my decade of commentary so far, I’ve been just the 2nd commentator outside of North America to be featured on the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series, as well as lending my voice to several high-level Sim Racing events, including companies such as INDYCAR, the FIA, Motorsport UK and Skip Barber to name a few.
SKILLS
I believe that good commentary should be able to make audience members feel emotion, so I believe I’m the right fit to let emotional storytelling drive the greatest form of entertainment in the modern age. When the next generation is looking for quick engagement, I’m tailor-made to provide the attention-grabbing moment the action requires.
My work shows that I’m extremely adaptable, able to take to a new series, a new sport, a new location or all three with a natural affinity, meshing style and substance with key timing, importance and unrivalled passion.
Technically, I’m interested in lexicography (the study of words) and quickly grasp the pronunciation of unusual names from all over the world. Ask me about times I’ve had to pronounce names two different ways depending on the location!
